Hello! Today we’ll be reviewing the Kovol Sprint 120W charging station! We want to thank Kovol for sending us this product for an honest in-depth review. For those of you who still don’t know how to read, we have our Kovol Sprint 120W charging station video review below.
There’s much more to charging stations than you may think. We’ll be discussing different types and important aspects when it comes to charging stations so that you can decide on your own.
Build Quality & Design
I’d like to start off with the build quality of the Kovol Sprint 120W charging station. The front side features 4 ports, two USB-C and two USB-A. The Kovol Sprint 120W charging station is small yet powerful. The charging station comes with a 4.9 ft long cable, so you’ll never have to worry about it being too short. Overall, the Kovol Sprint charging station looks very stylish and modern for a “black block”.
Power Matters
Power output plays the most important role when it comes to charging stations. In this case, the Kovol Sprint features 120W. Let’s take a closer look at what this means and why it’s important. So the power output actually shows how much power this device can allocate to one, or in this case, 4 devices that you plug in at any given time. Most phones don’t take more than 20 or 25W, however, when you start plugging in more devices, the amount of watts the charging station gives out get subtracted. For example if you’re charging a MacBook and it takes around 100W of the available 120W, and you plug in another MacBook, it’s going to chop the 120W in half and it’ll only give out around 60W to each device. This is very important to know because if you plug in 4 devices at the same time, the power is going to be distributed evenly to each device. So why is the Kovol sprint charging station good? Because with 120W available, most devices aren’t even going to use the full power output of this charger station.
Safety Features
On top of impressive power output, the Kovol Sprint 120W charging station is packed with safety features that ensure safe charging anytime anywhere. Let’s take a closer look at these features below.
- Surge – if voltage happens to rise above the acceptable level, the protector will divert the extra electricity into the outlets grounding wire.
- Overcurrent & Short-circuit – protect against an overload current (when there’s too much of a load on the circuit) or a short circuit current
- Over-voltage – shuts down the supply or clamps the output when the voltage exceeds a preset level.
- Overcharge – You guessed it.. protects a battery from over charging.
- High-temperature protection – shuts down the power supply when the internal temperature exceeds a safe value.
Charging Technologies
The Kovol Spring 120W charging station supports the following charging technologies;
- PD 3.0 – Fast charging technology for USB-C. Provides higher performance than standard charging methods.
- QC 3.0 – Qualcomm Quick charge technology. Basically it’s another charging technology that let’s you charge your devices faster.
- PPS – Programmable Power Supply that refers to the advanced charging technology. Basically, it modifies the voltage feeding maximum power based on a device’s charging status
These might sound a big techy, but all you need to know about these charging technologies is that they’re just helping you charge your devices faster. However, one important thing to note is that your device must be compatible to use the benefit of these technologies. For example, if your phone is QC 3.0 compatible, you can charge up to 4 times faster than a conventional 5W charger. And to make your life easier, the Kovol Spring 120W charger stating is compatible with the MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone, Nintendo Switch and most other USB (C,A) powered ports.
