2019 offered a ton of movies in different genres. Unfortunately, some of the movies didn’t have a big budget, or good advertisement. However, in my opinion they were better than some of the biggest premiers of the year. But since those movies have already come out, I’m not going to discuss them in this blog. Heading towards the end of 2019, I’ve collected a list of movies that will be featured in September-December of 2019. I want it to be clear right from the beginning, I’m not a movie critic, nor do I work or study professionally in this industry. In this blog I want to share my opinion and look at the upcoming big premiers to see if maybe our opinions match on some of these movies.
Rambo: Last blood in theaters September 20, 2019
Rambo. A sequel to Rambo 2008 and the fifth installment in the Rambo franchise, Rambo V: Last Blood sounds like good news for the Rambo franchise and Stallone fans. If you ask me, who grew up with old good movies that featured stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, Jean Claude Van Damme and other super-stars of action movies. I have split feelings about this movie and other movies that feature these actors. On one hand, I’m happy to see this actor playing the same role as he played back in the day, but on the other hand, I see that these actors become old, which is sad. In addition, movies like Rambo, and Terminator can’t offer a lot, as in my opinion their story has been finished a long time ago with previous movies. Now they’re just starting all over again with the same plot. Looking at the trailer, there’s not much you can understand from it. All you see are explosions, fighting scene and an old Stallone talking about some kind of Revenge? I’ve taken some time and researched this upcoming movie and it seems that the main plot of this movie is that Rambo travels to Mexico to save his niece, who has been kidnapped by a Mexican cartel. It makes since because you can see Mexican gang members fighting Rambo. But as I said earlier, the plot is very basic and doesn’t offer a lot, at least to me. I remember watching the original Rambo movies and being so impressed. Then I saw how it’s getting worse and worse from movie to movie.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Well…Have you seen the trailer yet? There’re more questions that come to mind after watching this than ever before. Dark Rey? What? Honestly, I’m not a big fan of the Disney Star Wars franchise. In my opinion the original movie series had ended just right and they didn’t need a reboot. But, it’s obvious that one of the greatest movie series in the world will catch lots of investors’ attention as it’s a gold mine and they’ll milk every drop out of it. It’s much easier to present something new to people when
they already know about it, even if the new series is not as great as the original one. Instead of creating something new from the scratch they would rather be safe and make a sequel, even if that means it won’t be as good as the original movies. The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance face the First order once again, and the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith will finally end. It will be the final film in the nine-part “Skywalker saga”, following the original and prequel trilogies.
Zombieland: Double tap
After a long 10 years, nothing foreshadowed a sequel to Zombieland (2009). Zombieland: Double tap is an upcoming horror zombie comedy directed by Ruben Fleischer. Might be a “hot” premier for those who have seen the original movie. There’s good and bad movies, but if a movie features Woody Harrelson, it’s automatically a good movie! Hands down he’s one of the best, and widely known Hollywood stars. Every time I see this actor I automatically think of “True Detective” where the combination of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey made the series so famous and iconic. Well, back to Zombieland: Double tap. From the trailer, we see a good cast, I already pointed out Woody, but there’s another great actor that had 5 seconds in the trailer. And it’s…drum roll…Jim Halpert. I’m so sorry, I meant to say Steve Carell! Honestly there’s not much to talk about the new sequel, and if you’re planning to watch it, you should consider watching the 1st Zombieland if you haven’t already.
IT chapter two
I HATE CLOWNS!!! I HATE CLOWNS!!! I HATE CLOWNS!!! What’s that sound in a dark room? Alright, jokes aside, IT Chapter Two is a hot premier for fans and everyone who enjoys supernatural horror films. Interesting, both the 2017 movie and this sequel are based on the 1986 novel “IT” by Stephen King. Watching the trailer, you probably figured out that all the adults in the movie are grown kids from “The Losers’ Club”. The movie takes place 27 years after the club defeated Pennywise. IT returns to terrorize
the town of Derry once more. Now adults, the Losers have long since gone their separate ways. However, the kids are disappearing again. Damaged by the experiences of their past, they must each conquer their deepest fears in order to destroy Pennywise once and for all.
Jocker In Theaters October 4
After watching the trailer, the movie plot is pretty obvious. In this movie, the director tries to show us how an unsuccessful middle-aged man, living his small “unimportant” life, with his elderly mother and a low-income clown job faced many defeats that at one point he broke and that created a monster. This shows how depression, in addition to an unsuccessful life without love and support can really destroy someone’s mental abilities or willing to live. Future Jocker realized that justice doesn’t exist, and people living in a town are spoiled from kids to grown adults. That’s when he decides to change his life as he has nothing to lose. There were so many movies about heroes and villains with straight forward and obvious explanation. Finally, there’s a movie that offers an alternative scene, where we’ll be looking at the villain from his perspective. Aside from the trailer, and on a more emotional note, every time there’s a movie that features a Jocker, I automatically think of Heath Ledger who is in my opinion one of the greatest actors and hands down best Jocker. Tragically he is no longer with us, but he’ll always be remembered.
Another two big premiers are 1917 and Ad Astra, for those two, please watch the detailed video below where we talk about those two movies and give our opinion. Feel free to share your opinion by living us a comment or share with your friends!
