Today we’ll be reviewing a brand-new product from FIFINE – FIFINE K678 USB Podcast condenser microphone for recording and streaming. This is our second review for FIFINE, big thanks to them for sending us this microphone for an honest review. If you don’t like reading, we have a dedicated video
review for this product where you can see the unboxing and check out the sound quality below.
As we’ve said previously when we’ve reviewed FIFINE T669, there are many different companies providing grate variety of microphones at different price ranges, however, you can’t beat FIFINE for the sound quality, and overall product quality at the offered price of only $65.00 (At the moment this review was written). We’ve also provided a link with the best available price below!
Alright, let’s take a closer look at the FIFINE K678 and see what sets it apart from other microphones within its price range.
What you get in the box:
- FIFINE K678 condenser microphone
- Slick triangle desktop stand
- 3/8″ male to 5/8 female adapter
- 24 months (2 years) warranty policy
First, this microphone is covered for 24 months (2 years) under the FIFINE warranty policy. To be eligible, you’ll need to register your product on the FIFINE website within 3 months after purchase. To qualify, FIFINE K678 must be purchased from one of the official websites: FIFINE web-store or Amazon and Walmart. This really sets FIFINE apart from many companies as they’re confident in the quality they offer, so that you can be confident with your products.
FIFINE K678 features:
- Durable metal construction: die-cast zinc with heavy-gauge meth grille that gives this product a premium feel.
- 3.5mm stereo headphone output
- 6.56′ long USB cable
- 5/8 inch male to 3/8 female mic thread screw-type adapter
- Control knobs for both microphone and headset volumes.
- Direct latency-free monitoring
- USB output enables direct integration with pretty much any device nowadays.
- CD-quality recording to software-based applications without preamplifier
The microphone is pretty heavy considering the size as it’s mostly made out of metal that gives it a premium feel. One of the very cool features of this microphone is that it has a USB jack for headphones, this is super helpful as you don’t have to plug headphones to your computer. This headphones jack is an upgrade, as FIFINE T669 didn’t have it. In our video review, we’ve also compared the sound of this FIFINE K678 to Blue Yeti and FIFINE T669 so that you could really hear the difference and find out which microphone will work the best for you.
On the back of the FIFINE K678 you can find the mic knob which increases your gain so if you sound too quiet you can turn in up or turn it down if you’re too loud, headphones volume knob and a mute button with an LED light which indicates if the mic is muted or live on the front. This is extremely helpful as you can mute yourself any time.
The desktop stand comes with some adjustments, as you can rotate the microphone. The microphone itself could be mounted to a studio stand; it also includes 3/8″ male to 5/8″ female adapter for plug-in-play studio setup. Another cool little feature is that this desktop stand comes with little stubs at the bottom, which will prevent the microphone from sliding around. It’s a little feature, but it shows the quality of the build and serves a good purpose.
The build quality of this microphone has exceeded our expectations, as for the price, you’re not only getting a great set of features, sound quality, but also a premium feel as this mic and the desktop stand are made of metal.
When we’ve visually compared FIFINE K678 to Blue Yeti we both agreed that FIFINE K678 is a lot smaller and would be a better choice as it takes less space on your desk.
As per the sound quality, we’ve noticed that FIFINE K678 picked up less background noise than the Blue Yeti, however, the Yeti picks up more of the bass and K678 picks up a little bit more of the higher sounds.
Below we’ve also provided a complete list of specifications for those ‘techy’ people who want to know frequency response, sensitivity values etc.
In conclusion, it’s completely up to you to decide what microphone to get, however, considering the price of FIFINE K678, you’re getting a sound and build quality of premium microphones for very little “budget” investment.
