Dynamic Stereo Headphones SONY MDR-7506 Professional headphones review.

Today I am going to review an individual product instead of doing multiple or a “group” of products like we did last week with the PAX West 2019 games. This blog is going to be focused on the Sony MDR-7506 headphones .

I have recently received these headphones as a gift and after hearing a lot of positive things about it, and of course doing some research I decided to start using them right away. Keep in mind however, these are headphones and not a headset so they are definitely not useful when it comes to gaming with your friends for example. That being said you can definitely use these headphones for playing single player games, however I would stick to something like the Astro A-40s (Click to reveal best price) for gaming.

These Sony headphones work really well when it comes to music production and listening to music in general. I have found that they are very good when it comes down to listening the 808s and very low notes of a song. Usually if you have bad headphones you cannot hear in low frequency ranges, but with these headphones I am able to hear absolutely everything.

Before we get into talking about the design of the headphones, I would like to talk more about the technical aspect. Right away, as soon as I started using these headphones, I noticed a change in audio quality for the better. Before I was using a very below average headset that was good for its time but unfortunately not anymore. An upgrade was definitely needed and these headphones served like the right fit.

Now, on to the actual design of the headphones. The Dynamic Stereo Headphones MDR-7506 are relatively small and very comfortable to transport (if you have something like a headphones case to carry them around in) otherwise I can see how they might get a little bit uncomfortable to carry around (but I’ll go over that in a second). There is a blue plastic tag on the left earphone with L and a red one on the right side that says R so you will never get confused which side is which. This is important if you’re working with music production for example and dim glad they have this. The headphones are a plastic build and sit very comfortable on my head without moving around when you are shaking your head. They are very secure and will not fall off of your head. The ear cushions are also very comfortable, and I have not felt any discomfort even when working with these headphones for over 5 hours during a long session. The headphones also come with a long “coil style” cord that is already connected to the headphones and you just connect the other side to your PC etc… The coil cord is kind of long and heavy and this is definitely the part that makes it harder to travel with these headphones. However, overall, I think these headphones are great if you are using them for a studio at home or listening to songs.

Let’s get into the pros and cons segment of this blog, first off I’d like to start with the pros. I really thought the sound quality was above average and like I mentioned before you can hear pretty much any range of frequencies with these headphones. The coil cord that connects to your PC is very nice and I do not see it breaking any time soon, in addition, studio adapter comes with the product, so that you can use the adapter to connect to studio equipment. It is very sturdy, and I feel like as long as you do not thrash it around it will be fine. Another pro for this product is definitely how comfortable they are. Usually when using headphones, I always manage to find some kind of discomfort with them (but maybe that’s just because I am a picky person when it comes to these kind of things). However with these headphones I really could not pick at anything, and they are probably the most comfortable headphones that I have ever worn. I have not talked about this yet but the process of these headphones is a pro in itself!

I mean they are very cheap for their quality. (I left the best price on Amazon for them below, they usually go for around 80-110$). The last pro for these headphones would be that they are able to fold up, making it so that they take up even less space on your desk!

The Cons segment for this product is not that big but I did find something that were less convenient for example the plastic build. Some people might not like the plastic build of the headphones and something of it as “cheap” this has never been a problem for me however, I just figured I would mention it. Another con is that traveling with these headphones would be pretty difficult unless you have some kind of case for them. To be fair the long and heavy coil cord does not help this process. This is why I would not recommend these headphones if you are traveling, however they’re great for a home studio set-up. One other con is that the small wires that go from each headphone up to the headrest part might seem like the wire could break if it got trapped in between the bit that has the headphones fold up. However, I do not think this will be a problem unless you are careless with your stuff.

That’s it for this blog!

Also here’s a the link to the Astro A-40s: They are a great headset for gaming and will probably get their own blog soon. Maybe even a video 😉 Stay tuned for that!
